Julia Moore has a distinguished reputation as one of publishing's most discriminating editors and one of the key figures in the world of illustrated and art book publishing. She has brought out a long list of critical and commercial triumphs.

Ms. Moore is equally known for her ability to juggle the competing demands of authors, photo researchers, graphic designers, production departments, technicians, and yes, salespeople. Her projects are published on time, on budget, and go on to earn acclaim for their authors and predictable profits for their publishers.

ArtEditing.com serves to introduce my editorial services, qualifications, background, experience, rates and fees, and contact information. Think of this Web site as an expanded résumé.

Because of the fifteen years I was senior editor or executive editor at Harry N. Abrams, Inc., I am best known as a developer and editor of major books on art history, art and architecture, and other humanities areas (see List of Publications). I have edited and developed some of the most successful art and design books of recent times, which range in subject from Tibetan Buddhist art to the history of landscape design. More recently, exhibition and collection catalogues have become a significant part of my work.

ArtEditing services include the following.

  • Project management
  • Manuscript evaluation
  • Editorial development
  • Substantive and line editing
  • Copy editing and styling
  • Proofreading
  • Writing and rewriting
  • Fact checking

ArtEditing projects have included:

  • straight editing of nonfiction and fiction books and journal articles;
  • creating and authoring special features;
  • project-managing multi-authored, heavily illustrated texts;
  • coordinating the design and preparation of mechanicals and proofs;
  • preparing marketing materials;
  • authoring study guides; and
  • successfully placing edited works with publishers.

Decades of experience in publishing houses has made me appreciate the value of high-quality work, clear communication, and on-schedule delivery. I do whatever is necessary to deliver work on time and with minimal fuss—at fair rates.
